The thing with long exposure photography is that it allows me to turn something that is into something that is totally different such as, waves and water become smooth as silk, clouds become streaks of light and texture, people become a blur and cars become streaks of coloured lights.
Photography is about playing and experimenting and I do just this by using neutral density filters
So much can be said on what a portrait is and what people believe it to be so here is my take on this subject:
taking a portrait of someone is to portray what the person and is, to show a part of them, to show who they are and a portraits does not necessarily mean a close up photo of the face but a photo that tells a story about the person him/her self.
And of course, a portrait can also be of anything and not just a person. In this gallery though, one will find portraits of people
I have enjoyed watching and observing birds ever since a little kid and I am fascinated by their colours, their song, the way they interact with each other. Sometimes I photograph them as they are while at other times I try to combine art and bird photography
One of my all time passions is to photography the human body against the rugged beauty of natural surrounds such as creeks, fallen logs, abandoned cottages etc Love showing the texture of human skin against a rock, bark etc. Other times, I like to show just how vulnerable we really are without possessions such as clothes and at other times, I try to capture the it's beauty and the human body really is a work of Art! With the male nudes I try to capture not only the shape of the body but the masculine sensuality and in 2015, my photo of Karlo won first prize at the local Men On Men Art exhibition which is an exhibition that celebrates masculinity and being male. The Judges's comments being, abstract showcasing the best of masculine sensuality
So many times and while driving, I'd notice a new building going up and I'd find myself wondering how tall it'll be, how will it look in a photo, my type of photo. Love architecture especially new modern buildings that show the architects' real talents and today's architects do an incredible job designing a building that is truly a piece or art!
I'd like to think that this whole web site is about my Art but this page in particular is about how I manipulate images to create something else and it's about my way of thinking when I am photographing something. The images you will see here have either been manipulated in photoshop or in camera. In camera by using a shallow depth of field which totally changes the look of my subject, what ever it maybe at the time.
The reason behind is: I have a very active mind and I like to explore, experiment with shapes, exposure and of course with playing in Photoshop and I love seeing the end result that I get from something very ordinary looking and examples of before and after shots will be shared in thew blog.
In 2014, I had the pleasure to visit Nepal and these images are just a handful out of thousands of images taken.
My life long dream from a very young age was to visit Africa and in 2008, I packed my bag and headed for Kenya and since throughout my life I volunteered at different organisations, helping at an orphanage where 62 children were living was another opportunity to help while experiencing the amazing and beautiful Kenya.
This gallery though is about my second trip which took place in 2010 and even though I was again based at the orphanage, the trip was for two months and a greater opportunity to explore the country so here you will find photos of the people and some wildlife photos. The problem that I had in creating this gallery was deciding which photos to share for I had taken thousands of them
We so often hear the name "nature" but exactly what is nature?
Is it the nature of the planet, the nature of the plants, trees?
